OUR MISSION: TO PROTECT THE SCHOOL DAY FOR LEARNING, PLAY AND SOCIAL CONNECTION
We want every school in the UK to be genuinely smartphone free, meaning children can only take a simple phone onto school premises. This vastly improves the school day and helps parents delay giving children smartphones in the first place.
The evidence
A huge body of evidence is showing us loud and clear that smartphones and addictive-by-design technology are damaging children's mental and physical health, reducing their ability to learn, and exposing them to an alarming range of safeguarding risks.

When we first started giving smartphones to children, we didn’t know this would be the result. Now we do - and we owe it to our children to respond.

Smartphone free schools unlock smartphone free childhoods

Smartphone free schools give children a superpower: the chance to focus and learn without distraction. They also give children a break from harmful content, profit-driven algorithms, online bullying and the constant threat of being filmed or photographed.

But they do much more than that.

Because when schools send out a clear message that smartphones are not safe for children, parents are empowered to delay giving them to children in the first place. This relieves peer pressure and creates a new social norm.

If we don't protect our children who will?
We strongly believe government should make smartphone free schools mandatory and we are campaigning for better regulation.
But this could take time and every school year is precious. So parents and schools must work together, urgently, to protect this generation of children, before their childhood is gone.
